The Lobster Restaurant, Santa Monica Pier

The original Lobster Restaurant was constructed in 1923 and has served as the ‘gateway’ to the Historic Santa Monica Pier for over ten decades. Howard Laks Architects preserved the original 773 square foot restaurant and designed a 4,000 square foot glass and steel platform connecting to the original facade.
The elevator platform cantilevers out toward the pier, providing a 180-degree view of the coastline.
The project is viewed as a Santa Monica icon and is featured in ‘Los Angeles’ a recent publication by famed photographer
